Settings

Every preference lives on one page: Settings. The sections — Search, Search Control, Appearance, Privacy & data, Account, Billing & Usage, and API — are listed down the left; the matching panel fills the rest of the page. Selecting a section in the sidebar shows that panel.

Most preferences save the moment you choose them. The Search and Privacy panels carry an explicit Save button, because their settings travel with your account and apply on every device; the rest take effect immediately.

Find a setting by typing

A search box sits at the top of the sidebar. Type any part of a setting's name and the page narrows to the matches as you type, across every section at once — there is no need to know which section a setting lives in. The match is on the setting's name, its description, its section and group, a list of synonyms, and every option value, so a search finds a setting by something you would actually call it:

Type Finds
dark Theme (the dark option)
utm Remove tracking parameters
nsfw Safe search
japan Display language · Region · Language
new tab Open results in a new tab

Each result names the setting and the section it belongs to; selecting one jumps to that setting and highlights it. Matching is case-insensitive, and a query of several words requires all of them — dark contrast narrows to the appearance controls that mention both. Clearing the box restores the full page.

What is where

Section Holds
Search Search preferences — results per page, region, language, safe search, default time range, autocorrect, new-tab behavior.
Search Control Your ranking rules, lenses, bangs, snaps, and redirects. See Search Control.
Appearance Theme, high contrast, text size, and display language.
Privacy & data The privacy posture and the tracking-parameter strip.
Account Your email, member-since date, active sessions, and account closure.
Billing & Usage Your plan, payment method, and prepaid API credits. See the Billing section.
API API keys. See API keys.

The API section is hidden from the sidebar until you turn on Show Developer section under Billing & Usage. It is never unreachable: a search for api or key still finds it, and a direct link still opens it.
